After a series of successful performances of Madame Butterfly and La Boheme in 2013, The Russian State Ballet and Opera House is back with two more world class operas: Carmen, a powerful and passionate drama of love and rejection, and La Traviata, an epic tragedy of love in all its aspects. The tour features an impressive cast accompanied by a large live orchestra with over thirty musicians.
The company is passionate about their long-term project to involve more local choirs, and to integrate them into the company’s future productions. To start with, this year they have offered the opportunity to six children, around 10-13 years old, to sing in their new opera production of Carmen, and six children from each of the reputable Stagecoach singing and dancing companies in Dorking, Worthing, Tunbridge Wells and Portsmouth will be singing in their respective towns.
