Renowned Icelandic artist, Derek Mundell, in an interview-article by Marianne Gross, shared: “eager to learn various styles and techniques he began to seek various teachers abroad. He attended a course in Florida with Jeanne Dobie… and sought out other master painters, such as Joseph Zbukvic and Alvaro Castagnet. The person who has had the greatest influence on him, however, is the English artist Bridget Woods. The first course with her in mid 1990s led onto many more. He and a friend arranged for Bridget Woods to come to Iceland to teach and later exhibit. Since then she has held ten watercolour courses and three exhibitions”.

Having been senior tutor at West Dean College, after twenty-one years, to develop her creativity Bridget is limiting her teaching. Her course in Tuscany ‘Atmosphere Through Light and Texture in the Tuscan Landscape in Watercolour’ is a rare opportunity to develop your skills with her supportive guidance. Although Bridget is limiting her teaching, she says, “I love developing each student’s unique style by sharing my skills – and was tempted by Art Travel Italy’s invitation to teach because I have worked in this region of Tuscany and know how much the added inspiration of included trips to beautiful San Gimignano, Certaldo Alto and Siena will offer us as a painting group… not to mention the food and wine tasting!”

The course runs 15th to 22nd June 2019, register by end of January. Go to for details and how to book.
