Rainbow Shakespeare

Shakespeare picnics at Worthing’s Highdown Gardens in July

Bring a picnic and snuggle down as the sun sets, the stars come out and Rainbow’s acclaimed and charismatic professional actors entertain and amaze with lively, spontaneous, non-stuffy Shakespeare, that all ages can understand and enjoy.

This is Rainbow Shakespeare’s 16th season under founder and artistic director Nick Young and once again they look forward to welcoming old friends and followers, as well as inspiring new audience members to join with them in sharing the drama and the laughs with their unique presentation of the magic of live theatre. This year, as usual, the Company are presenting two contrasting productions: Troilus & Cressida from 14th to 19th July, and the timeless comedy Much Ado About Nothing from 21st to 26th July.

“Troilus & Cressida is one of my very favourite plays,” comments Director Nick Young, “romance, comedy, battles, heroes, thrills and spills all in one play! We invite the audience to come to Troy where the Greeks are fighting to get Helen back, where young Troilus and Cressida’s romantic and passionate love is about to be tested.”

Much Ado is of course a perfect summer entertainment; two intertwined love stories with songs, dances, tragedy and comedy. Shakespeare makes you laugh but also breaks your heart – and then magically puts it back together again.
