Blackbird Arts aims to provide a sustainable, affordable service where practising artists and craftspeople share their expertise and inspire others to try new things.
We now have a core of successful workshops. Being working artists we won’t be able to schedule more than two of each over the year, so please check the website regularly if you are interested.
We start the season off with Wood Carving in the beautiful surroundings of Wilderness Wood with Martin Brockman. Martin has been teaching a range of art courses across Britain for many years, including regular evening classes in wood carving in Battle. His roots are in the orchards of Kent where his family had worked the land for generations.
Next, we move to Isfield Village Hall for another Mosaic Workshop with Hannah Griffiths. Hannah has designed and created beautiful mosaics for public and private clients in Britain and Italy. She has also run school workshops, evening classes and mosaic parties for large groups and families.
Staying in Isfield, but moving into November, we are hosting Woodblock Printing with Adele Scantlebury (that’s me!). I’ve really enjoyed breaking down the processes I go through as a printmaker so that I can share this with other people.
Finally, we go back to Wilderness Wood with Martin Brockman for Withy Deer Sculpture. This is always a popular workshop with a mix of individuals and family groups working to build the ultimate garden Christmas decoration. Best Winter Wishes to you all!
