Swan Lake – a compelling legend of tragic romance

It was 137 years ago when, for the first time, the world listened to the music of Swan Lake by the great Russian composer, Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky. From this point the world of ballet would never be the same again. A princess turned into a swan by an evil curse, and choreography that allows the very best dancers to show just how impressive they can be.



Giselle – the greatest of all romantic ballets

Giselle, a ballet in two acts by 19th century’s French composer Adolphe Adam and librettists Jules-Henri Vernoy de Saint-Georges and Théophile Gautier, stands out as one of the most celebrated classical ballets. Only Giselle’s powerful love saves the remorseful Albrecht from his certain fate, proving that love can conquer all – even death.

The Nutcracker – the eternal seasonal favourite

With music by Pyotr I. Tchaikovsky, the Christmas story is based on ‘The Nutcracker and the Mouse King’ written by E.T.A. Hoffmann. A highly accessible ballet full of familiar music, The Nutcracker tells the story of Marie, a rather sad little girl, whose godfather Drosselmeyer gives her a Nutcracker doll as a present on Christmas Eve which turns into a prince and the magic begins …

This year, we have chosen to work with the world famous Russian State Ballet and Opera Theatre of Komi that has delighted audiences since 1958, and are renowned for their ballet and opera masterpieces.

“We feel that everyone should have the opportunity to enjoy ballet in their lifetime, which is why we are dedicated to presenting full and positive new productions in regional theatres.
